The Greenwood Advisory Planning Commission voted 7-0 on March 10 to continue a petition by Davis Holmes to the commission’s March 24 meeting after county officials did not provide specific direction about a 300-foot gap on Combs Road.
The petition, represented at the meeting by Eric Prime of Vane Veil law firm, sought several commitment changes. "You may remember we were before you 2 weeks ago, with regard to 3, requested, commitment changes, and 2 of those were granted. 1 was, taken under advisement so staff and city legal could do some additional research," Prime said. He told the commission that staff had reached out to the county and that the county had responded but not with the needed specificity, so the petitioner requested a continuance to March 24.
Commission members said timing was a consideration because the property is tillable ground and the landowner faces an imminent planting decision. One commissioner noted the planting season made the March 24 date important: "we're kind of at a tipping point on whether or not, the, landowner should plant or not. So we really need to get to a a conclusion by the 20 fourth if we can." The commission also noted it had a lengthy Parks presentation scheduled for the next meeting, which could make that agenda longer.
Miss Stambaugh made the motion to continue the item to March 24; Mr. Price seconded. "All in favor, please show by raising a hand. All votes, same sign. Motion carries 7 0," the chair recorded.

The continuation leaves open the unresolved question about who will be responsible for Combs Road improvements, which staff said involves county jurisdiction. The petitioner will return on March 24 or when the county provides the requested specifics.
