Lake Bluff — The village finance committee on March 10 reviewed a proposed update to the village’s pay plan that includes market adjustments to pay ranges and a proposed reclassification of one administrative position to a management-analyst role.
Staff summarized the proposal as a modest organizational change intended to elevate classification and better align recruiting options. Bettina (village staff member) said the change would be accomplished with “a minimal investment” and provide more capacity to support department heads. Drew (village staff member) added that the updated pay ranges are broader than inflation but do not automatically increase individual salaries; raises would continue to be determined case-by-case.
Committee members discussed comparables used for the pay study and asked staff to consider additional nearby communities before finalizing advertising ranges. Staff noted a new Illinois requirement to publish salary ranges in job advertisements starting January 1 (staff identified the change but did not provide statutory citation in the meeting).
Ending: The committee did not finalize increases but indicated support for further review of comparables and asked staff to refine the pay-plan materials ahead of the budget process.
