At the start of the meeting the commission interviewed Nick Florey, who described five years of residence in St. Helens, prior volunteer experience and management experience as a superintendent with an elevator company. Commissioners asked about time availability and familiarity with commission responsibilities; Florey said he had read the municipal code sections and bylaws and was willing to serve.
Commissioner Scott moved to recommend Florey for appointment and a second was recorded. Commissioners voted by voice and the motion passed; the commission will forward its recommendation to the St. Helens City Council for final approval.
