Superintendent Dr. Griffin updated the Alexander County Schools Board of Education on March 10 about recent student competitions and upcoming district events and proposed a date change for the June board meeting.
Dr. Griffin said West Alexander Middle School won the district middle-school Battle of the Books held Feb. 19 and Bethlehem Elementary won the elementary competition on March 4. He invited parents, community members and business partners to attend a March 13 presentation by Dr. Bill Daggett at Alexander Central's varsity gymnasium at 6:00 p.m., saying the event is free. Dr. Griffin also noted March 14 is a required work day for traditional schools, March 17 is an optional work day, and Alexander Early College's spring break runs March 17–21.
Dr. Griffin told the board he proposed moving the regularly scheduled June 9 board meeting to Monday, June 16 because of a scheduling conflict; the board did not vote on this change at the open session and Dr. Griffin presented the proposal for public notice and planning.
