The Alexander County Schools Board of Education on March 10 adopted three policy revisions on second reading and allowed two proposed policies presented on first reading to remain on the agenda for an additional month.
Ms. Sharon Mahaffey presented the policies recommended for adoption on second reading. The board approved revisions to: board member compensation and expense; technology responsible use; and employee travel and other expense reimbursements. Board member Oxentine moved to approve the second readings; Board member Anthony McClain seconded. The chair took the ayes and the motion passed unanimously.
Two policies were presented on first reading and left to stand for another month: the transcript records the item as "registered *** offenders" and a separate policy on "reporting to external sources, or external agencies." The board did not adopt those two items tonight and will return them at a future meeting for additional consideration.
The meeting record does not include the full text of the policy language or financial impacts of the adopted policies; board staff indicated today that these items have completed two readings and were brought forward for approval.
