Committee updates: $299,813 opioid-abatement RFP published; Volkswagen settlement opportunities continue

The Oklahoma County Policy & Governance Committee reviewed current grant activity and timelines, including an attorney general opioid-abatement fund and Volkswagen Settlement Trust opportunities.
Staff reported the county’s attorney general opioid abatement grant carries an available amount of $299,813.63. An RFP to award those funds was published March 3, staff said, and bids will be opened at an upcoming Board of County Commissioners meeting; the committee will discuss selections at its April meeting. The county’s grant coordinator was credited for managing publication of the RFP and preparing materials for the bid opening.
Committee members also discussed the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Volkswagen Settlement Trust funding. District 1 and District 3 have used the trust previously to purchase vehicles, and staff said additional opportunity remains. Separately, staff reported an EV charger opportunity administered by the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) was declined for now; ACOG will notify the county of future opportunities.
Committee members had no further questions about the opioid-abatement RFP during the review and applauded staff work on the procurement process.
Next steps identified were to accept bids at the BOCC meeting and return recommendations to Policy & Governance in April for selection and award.
