Oakwood board approves hires and accepts several retirements and resignations

The Oakwood Schools Board of Education on March 10 approved multiple personnel actions, including the employment of Jenna Hill as director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, and Jennifer Keyes as special education supervisor and principal at Lang Elementary.

Superintendent Neil Gupta recommended the hires and introduced both candidates. Jenna Hill, who previously taught at Oakwood High School and served in administrative roles at Bellbrook Middle School, told the board she is "absolutely thrilled to be here" and called Oakwood a place that "shaped me into the educator I am today." Jennifer Keyes, who has worked in elementary special education coordination and related services, said she is "excited to be part of the Lumberjack family" and looks forward to supporting students and staff at Lang.

The board approved a slate of other personnel items in a single motion that included the employment of Abigail Smith as payroll and benefits specialist, approval of substitute staff lists, supplemental contracts and seasonal workers. The board also accepted retirements from long-serving employees: Jay Lane (math, Oakwood High School), Pamela Morrow (intervention specialist, Oakwood Junior High), and Tammy Parker (second grade, Harmon Elementary), and accepted resignations from two intervention specialists at Smith Elementary.

Votes were taken by roll call on the combined personnel motions and were approved by the board.

Ending: The hires will take effect according to the start dates provided in board documentation; retirees’ and resignations’ effective dates were recorded in the meeting agenda.
