Supervisors accept $10,000 low bid to replace two furnaces at sheriff’s office

The Muscatine County Board of Supervisors on March 10 accepted a $10,000 low bid from Molina Mechanical to replace two furnaces serving the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office.
County Development Director Eric Furnace told the board the existing furnaces are original to the building, installed when the facility was constructed in 1996, and had reached the end of their expected life. The county obtained three bids; Molina Mechanical submitted the low apparent bid of $10,000 and the project was budgeted through capital projects.
Supervisors moved and seconded approval; the motion passed on voice vote with supervisors saying “aye.” Furnace said the furnaces are high-efficiency 80,000 BTU units and staff prefer to complete the replacement before the next heating season.
Furnace also reported that recent roof repairs had addressed prior water infiltration and that phase 1 of administrative building repairs is nearly complete.
