The Sparks City Council voted March 10 to approve employment agreement AC6097 hiring Shauna Halterman as the city’s human resources director at an annual salary of $140,004.80 plus benefits and a performance incentive of up to $10,000.
Assistant City Manager Lisonbee McCormick told the council Halterman was the top candidate after an extensive recruitment that drew more than 40 applicants and outlined the agreement’s main terms: the base salary, performance incentive, deferred compensation matching, Public Employees' Retirement System contributions, insurance premium coverage and standard sick and personal leave allotments.
McCormick said Halterman’s selection followed a competitive process and that staff recommended the agreement. Councilmember Michael Anderson moved to approve AC6097; Councilmember Rodriguez seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
After the vote, Halterman was sworn in and took the oath of office. “I am very excited to be here and looking forward to serving the council, our employees, and the entire community of Sparks,” Halterman said.
The employment agreement and the formal appointment place Halterman in charge of human resources functions for the city. The council did not discuss additional changes to the salary or benefits package beyond the terms read into the record.
