DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. — The DeKalb County Planning Commission on Feb. 19 recommended that county commissioners approve a zone map amendment to change about 14.35 acres south of Garrett from R1 (low-density residential) to A2 (agricultural).
The applicant, identified in the hearing as Joe DeBrisco of Fort Wayne, told the commission the change is intended to allow a single-family home and to keep the land in agricultural use. "The intended use is strictly for residential," DeBrisco said. "I wouldn't want to be in a spot where down the road, they said, well, it's residential. You gotta quit farming it." The parcel is at the southeast corner of County Road 327 and County Road 68, roughly three miles south of Garrett and adjacent to Holiday Lakes.
