The Montgomery County Council clerk announced the schedule for public hearings on the proposed FY26 operating budgets and the FY26–31 public services program and fiscal policy. Public hearings are set for Monday, April 7, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The hearings will cover the Montgomery County government, Montgomery College, the Maryland‑National Capital Park and Planning Commission, WSSC Water, and Montgomery County Public Schools. Individuals who wish to testify in person or virtually must register in advance via the council’s website; the clerk also said the council will accept written, audio and video testimony through the same portal.
The clerk announced that the council is extending the deadline for applicants to serve on the planning board. Applicants must be Montgomery County residents registered to vote in the county; applications — including cover letters and resumes — are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025, and may be emailed to council.clerk@MontgomeryCountyMD.gov.
The clerk also noted two changes to the day’s agenda: a capital appropriation item for the Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center was removed, and action on nominees to the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund Commission was moved on the agenda. Councilmembers Lukey and Mink were attending the meeting virtually, the clerk said.
