The Select Board on March 10 approved local sign-off for Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) charity-wine pouring permits tied to the Nantucket Wine & Food Festival scheduled for May 2025.
Amy, licensing staff, said the festival organizer qualifies as a nonprofit and has provided required documentation. The board signed off on charity pouring at four licensed establishments — Nantucket Hotel, Nantucket Inn, American Seasons and Straight Wharf Restaurant — which are all section-12 on-premise licensed locations eligible for ABCC charity pouring under state rules. Bartlett’s Farm events and private-home dinners will instead use one-day liquor permits; staff said those lists will come back to the board for signature.
Select Board member Matt moved approval; the motion passed by unanimous roll call (ayes from Matt, Malcolm, Dawn, Tom and the chair). Amy noted that the town had already approved a public-assembly permit for the festival in October 2024 and that the licensing office will receive and sign additional one-day permits for house events later.
The board’s local sign-off allows the ABCC charity permits to proceed for the listed on-premise locations; separate administrative review will continue for one-day permits and any large-tent events at Bartlett’s Farm.
