The Medina Finance Committee approved award of bids for the South Court Water Main Loop (job 1181), a project to connect the South Court water tower to an existing line at High Point Drive to provide a secondary feed for redundancy and improved fire flow.
Public Works staff said the tower is currently fed only from the north and that the loop was a recommendation from the city’s water master plan, typically reviewed every five to six years. The project resurfaced as a priority in coordination with an adjacent Acme commercial development; staff requested the emergency clause so work could be completed before the store’s planned opening in July.
The committee approved the bid award with the emergency clause and directed staff to coordinate the construction schedule with the developer to meet the targeted completion window. Funding will come from the city’s water account (account 108, per staff statement).
