Pittsfield Public Schools submitted an initial compliance certification to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) for the Crosby project; the district must file a school building committee form by April 4 and obtain a city council vote to approve funding for the feasibility study by Oct. 31.
Pittsfield — Pittsfield Public Schools submitted the initial compliance certification to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) for the Crosby project and received acknowledgment, district staff reported Feb. 26.
Assistant Superintendent Gage told the School Committee the submission completes the first step in MSBA’s approximately 270-day process. The next requirement is a school building committee form, which the district plans to submit by the April 4 deadline; that form asks the district to identify an executive officer, school committee member(s) and other representatives who will serve on the building committee throughout the project.
Gage said her goal is to complete all documentation except the city council vote approving funds for a feasibility study before her tenure ends in June. The city council must vote to approve funds for the feasibility study before Oct. 31 of this year to meet MSBA timelines, she said.
No city council vote or feasibility study funding was completed at the Feb. 26 meeting; Gage said the district will continue to prepare documentation and return to the committee with required items and timelines.
Committee members were advised of the MSBA timeline and related deadlines; no committee vote was required at the meeting.
