Framingham policy subcommittee reverts Title IX policies to 2021 rules after court decision

The Framingham Public Schools policy subcommittee voted to send updated Title IX policies reverting to the 2021 federal regulations to the full school committee for first reading.

The subcommittee's discussion reflected a federal regulatory change: staff said a Kentucky court decision forced schools nationwide to revert from the 2024 Title IX regulations back to the 2021 regulations. Ina, a district staff member who led the presentation, said the policies drafted for Title IX “are all related” and “pretty much are going back to what we had, proposed in 2021,” noting the change followed the court decision. The subcommittee chair then moved to adopt the revised Title IX policies for a first reading and the vote passed.

The subcommittee noted counsel had reviewed the updates: staff said they had worked with attorney Joyce to ensure compliance. No substantive policy text changes beyond reverting to the earlier regulatory baseline were described during the meeting.
