Committee on Parole revokes supervision for Danny Odo after absconding, missed reports and arrest

Prater opened the hearing by confirming Odo had received the written notice of the revocation proceeding and that the parolee understood he was not entitled to an appointed attorney but could hire one if he wished. Parole officer Danny Barra reviewed the alleged violations, including failing to submit monthly reports and missing a scheduled office appointment (reporting on 02/27/2024), failing to provide an accurate address so home visits could be made, and leaving Louisiana without written permission, which the panel recorded as an absconding on or about 02/07/2024. Odo pleaded guilty to those items.
The board also reviewed a September 26, 2024 arrest listed in the Pearl River County Sheriff’s records for a domestic violence misdemeanor (report number O24-O14261). Odo told the panel the police report’s description — that he struck his wife in the back of the head and removed her wallet — did not reflect his account and said his wife could testify differently. The panel noted contradictions between Odo’s statements and the police report.
Board members also noted Odo had fallen behind on supervision and processing fees, listing arrears of $745 and a last recorded payment in January 2024. The panel said he had failed to provide proof of attendance at required AA/NA meetings; Odo said he received Vivitrol shots and attended meetings connected to that treatment but had not turned in paperwork to prove it.
After discussion, Prater said he found “plenty cause to revoke” based on the violations and the discrepancy with the police report. Pete Freeman and Danny Barra concurred. The panel voted to revoke Odo’s supervision.
No further remedies or alternative dispositions were announced at the hearing; the panel’s stated action was revocation of supervision effective that day.
The hearing record shows Odo repeatedly pleaded guilty to the listed supervision violations and provided a statement disputing aspects of the police report. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy participated remotely and was identified for the record.
