Sawyer County EDC reports 28 businesses assisted, seeks matching funds for grants and plans recruitment video

Adam Lamore, representing the Sawyer County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), said the incubator has helped 28 distinct businesses with tasks ranging from obtaining Employer Identification Numbers to writing business plans. He said the EDC is tracking those businesses and plans to follow up on longer‑term outcomes.
Lamore described a promotional video project aimed at recruiting workers and highlighting quality‑of‑life and tourism assets in Sawyer County. He said shoots would start that week at about 10 county locations and that the video will be available for local businesses to use for recruitment.
On grant funding, Lamore said the EDC applied for a new business development grant and did not receive it, in part because applications score better when applicants can provide matching funds. He described planned fundraisers to build a “bankroll” the EDC could use as local match. He also reported complications in obtaining a federal System for Award Management (SAM) registration: the federal process requires a permanent street address and matching documentation showing the full organizational name on a bank statement; the EDC previously used a PO box and must now provide corrected bank documentation to complete SAM registration.
Lamore sought committee support for the EDC's fundraising and outreach work and said he expects more developments on the incubator and grant applications in coming months. No formal committee action was taken.
