Council approves materials, conduit work for Fourth Street and Jefferson intersection improvements

Lebanon City Council on Dec. 19 approved materials and associated contracting for improvements at the intersection of Fourth Street and Jefferson Avenue.
City staff said the project will widen the intersection corner radius from roughly 18 feet to about 40 feet in front of the Infuse Bank parcel. The work includes moving the traffic signal, installing a new signal base and mast arm (supplied by the Missouri Department of Transportation), concrete and asphalt repairs, sidewalk and ramp replacement, pedestrian-signal upgrades and thermoplastic striping. MoDOT will provide the new pole and mast arm and will bore conduit for the signal; the city will provide the concrete base, associated roadway concrete and wiring.
Staff provided itemized material estimates for the city portion: concrete costs at about $23,350, asphalt $9,000 and aggregate about $3,870. Staff said the total for materials and contractor boring would not exceed approximately $96,500. Council members discussed related drainage and an adjacent Adams/Fourth intersection project that had been completed recently; one member noted puddling at Adams and Fourth after recent rain and asked staff to double-check drainage.
The council moved and approved the ordinance to authorize purchasing materials and executing related documents to complete the intersection improvements. Staff will return with construction scheduling, contractor notices and final contract documents.
