Council members and staff used the Feb. 10 meeting for several administrative updates and community-service reminders, including potential weather-related closures, expanded recycling hours, debris drop-off schedules, a recent property removal, newsletter timing and upcoming meetings.
City staff said they will make closures or delays of public-facing facilities as weather requires and that the mayor will be notified of any decisions. Councilmembers reported changes at local recycling services: Clean Industries expanded service hours and added a third-Saturday collection (reported as 8 a.m. to noon), and an alternative center accepts items such as computers; glass collection was noted as likely not accepted by the recycler. Public works' Saturday drop-off for brush and debris was discussed and staff said they will publish confirmed hours. Councilmembers also thanked public works for a rapid removal of a nuisance house across from Gascarnet Park.
Administrative reminders included the next council meetings on Feb. 24 and March 10, the State of the City event on March 6 at Rotary, and a quarterly newsletter mailer scheduled for May 8 pending approval of photos. These items were presented as announcements; no formal council actions were recorded.
