Eileen Limerick announces bid for Washington State Bar Association Board of Governors, District 10

Eileen Limerick, an in-house counsel and equity partner at McKinstry, announced she is running for the Washington State Bar Association Board of Governors' District 10 seat. "I'm excited to be running for the WISPA board of governors district 10 position," she said.

Limerick told attendees she would emphasize member engagement and equity. "I'll show members their feedback is valued, was received, and actions are being planned," she said, and called for more free continuing legal education (CLE) offerings targeted to member needs.

Limerick cited work with bar association diversity and engagement efforts and described her background in public service and bar leadership. She said she led the WSPA diversity committee as co-chair, serves on WSPA's member engagement council and is on the board of the Filipino Lawyers of Washington; she added she served as that group's president in Feb. 2018. She also said she formerly worked as a Washington state assistant attorney general for Labor and Industries in Tumwater and mentors law students and new attorneys.

Arguing that a "fresh perspective" would help the board, Limerick said she is not an incumbent and would bring "new ideas and new approaches" to address members' concerns. She pointed to a recent member perception survey, saying its results "shows a need for improvement in the category WSPA listening to its members." In response, she proposed more free CLEs and programming shaped by survey feedback and said the bar should study what increases or reduces a sense of belonging among lawyers from underrepresented groups.

Limerick closed by asking for support and described her candidacy as an opportunity to introduce new energy to board deliberations. "I have the experience and passion to be the new governor for District 10. I'd be honored to have your support," she said.
