The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission unanimously appointed a student representative March 10. Callie, identified as a sophomore at Oak Harbor High School, was approved to serve as the student representative after a brief question-and-answer period.
Callie told commissioners she serves as treasurer for her class and has organized a club that visits retirement centers, and she said she wanted to expand outreach to the city. "I just wanted to, like, have more of an outreach on, like, the actual city and just be able to, like, outreach more into the community," Callie said.
Commissioners asked about release time and logistics; a school pass and release arrangement were confirmed so she can leave during meeting days. The motion to approve Callie as the next student representative passed by unanimous voice vote.
