Houston County Commission approves ARPA allocations, funding to Gordon, bike-trail property purchase and budget amendment

The Houston County Commission approved a series of resolutions and routine motions in a meeting that included allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funds, a $40,000 funding agreement with the town of Gordon and approval to proceed with a property purchase for a county bike-trail project.

The actions, taken by voice vote during the meeting, included motions to fill vacancies on local authorities, amend the articles of incorporation for the Dothan-Houston County intellectual disabilities board, and a $6,050 budget amendment for a SmartFusion personnel module.

The commission approved a funding agreement with the town of Gordon that the town's mayor described as a $40,000 award. The mayor said the money will be spent on a golf cart, a portable building and upgrades to the town park and thanked the commission for earlier assistance that helped the town catch up on audits and negotiate past payroll-tax obligations. "It's $40,000. We're gonna use it wisely," the mayor said.
