Buena Park School District names Paul Dines chief personnel officer

The Buena Park School District introduced Paul Dines as its new chief personnel officer during the March 10 Board of Trustees meeting, with district leaders saying his background in school-district human resources and industry associations will support personnel and recruitment work.
The district’s interim chief personnel officer, Nora Rokey, introduced Dines and summarized his experience, saying he brings “over 15 years of experience in the HR field” and has worked in Fullerton and Downey Unified school districts and for the Cooperative Organization for the Development of Employee Selection Procedures (CODESP). Dr. Julian Lee, the superintendent, and board members welcomed Dines to the district.
Dines addressed the board and attendees, saying he was “completely humbled and honored to have this opportunity” and that he looks forward to centering employees in district work and “help[ing] employees find that empowerment in their day to day.” Board members and the superintendent praised his relationship-building skills and experience in recruitment, compensation studies and employee development.
The board’s remarks noted Dines’s stated academic credentials — an MBA and a BA in psychology and philosophy, and an in-progress MS in industrial-organizational psychology — and his service on several HR boards, including a president role in a Southern California personnel association. District officials said his experience includes work on certificated and classified matters, complex employment issues, and training and development programs.
District leaders said Dines will support ongoing personnel work and implementation of negotiated agreements and did not announce additional administrative actions at the meeting.
