The measure, introduced by Trustee Mark Kerner, prompted labor leaders to say the draft had been circulated without adequate consultation with educators and other school staff and that the language risked excluding or diminishing other student groups.
Morgan Agnew, president of the San Rafael Federation of Teachers, criticized the process and the draft’s lack of data, saying, “SRFT is profoundly disappointed that the resolution was brought forward without any apparent consultation with teachers, administrators, counselors, psychologists, wellness coordinators, or any of the other district employees who work with our young men.”
