Commissioners asked finance staff to present specific remaining balances in contingency and other line items and requested a finance committee meeting with the finance director.
On courts, County Attorney/administrator staff (mister Turner) said outside consultants that perform process-improvement work include the National Center for State Courts and BerryDunn, and that understaffing in district attorney and public defender offices is likely a contributing factor. Turner suggested coordinating input from judges, the sheriff's office and local bar leaders; commissioners emphasized the need for timely reviews and possible corrective measures.
Staff said the MyJustice portal (recently approved by the board and launched) might alleviate some processing delays, but commissioners asked staff to evaluate staffing and process-improvement options and report back.
