County to use Florida Auction Network LLC as new online surplus auction vendor, staff says

Procurement staff recommended March 10 that Dougherty County contract with Florida Auction Network LLC to provide online consignment auction services for surplus heavy equipment and trucks. Staff said the prior vendor is no longer serving the county and recommended the new firm because it is taking over that book of business and charges a flat 5% fee, which staff said reduces prior costs by about 1 percentage point.
Procurement manager Jawaan Ware and Assistant County Administrator Barry Brooks presented the recommendation; commissioners asked clarifying questions about fees and the vendor's approach. Staff said the arrangement will be brought to the board for approval and that the vendor's flat 5% commission will lower costs relative to the prior provider.
