Sanford City Council approved accepting a funding offer and amending the capital project ordinance to complete a lead service-line replacement program and inventory for the Pittsboro service area.
Finance staff told the council the city will accept $499,380 in principal forgiveness from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality to support lead service-line replacement work and inventory efforts in that service area. The council approved both the resolution to accept the funding offer and a capital project ordinance amendment to budget the inventory project.
Miss Kelly said items f and g in the agenda packet are related and asked councilors whether they had questions; none were raised before motions to accept the offer and to approve the ordinance amendment. Both motions carried by voice vote.
Staff indicated the funds will be used for the inventory and replacement work authorized for the Pittsboro service area.
