County planning staff told commissioners on March 10 that the planning commission has recommended approval of a rezoning request for a 4.52-acre parcel at 3420 Sylvester Highway. Applicant David Dent and owner Ivy RV Park LLC seek to rezone the property from C-8 (Commercial Recreation District) to C-3 (Commercial Business District) to allow development of a parking lot for transport equipment.
Angel Gray, deputy plan director, said the rezoning would create a cohesive line of C-3 properties and reduce the extent of fencing and other mitigation that would have been required if the property remained in C-8. Gray said the item is scheduled for public hearing at the regular March 17 meeting, where the transport equipment company and other interested parties are expected to appear. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about past oppositions and how the proposed use would sit relative to neighboring parcels; staff said further details and testimony will be available at the public hearing.
