Sanford City Council on March 4 approved a package of development, utility and budget items that city staff said will support upcoming residential projects and close out capital accounts.
Major actions taken by the council included approval of two zoning-map amendments to allow townhomes and multifamily housing, adoption of two downstream sewer developer agreements (Adams Village and Broadwell) that allocate developer payments toward increased sewer capacity in the Gasteridge Creek subbasin, a midyear operating-budget amendment that moves appropriations across departments, and the closeout of two capital projects: Moncure Mega Site Phase 2 (wastewater, Project S2101) and Project Forge (site-prep and roadway G02/2002).
Council also approved a three-year lease for a customer-service office space in Pittsboro to support billing and customer service related to the planned merger with Chatham County and Siler City, and directed the city clerk to investigate two annexation petitions (Harkey Road Developers and DRB Group of North Carolina) and set public hearings for March 18 at 6 p.m.
