The Thayer County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing at 1 p.m. Feb. 5 on the recommended Thayer County Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Regulations and Subdivision Regulations.
Chairman Dean Krueger opened the hearing and invited public comment. The minutes record no public comments on the Comprehensive Plan or the recommended Subdivision Regulations. Gary Miller, chairman of the Thayer County Zoning and Planning Committee, commented on the time and work invested by parties preparing the recommendations. No other comments were offered on those items.
When the board opened the record on the recommended Zoning Regulations excluding Article 10, the record shows no public comment. For Article 10, the minutes record that Attorney Hannes Zetzsche, representing TransAlta Corporation, presented recommended amendments; Attorney Scott Gropp, representing several residents, presented recommended amendments; and Robert Reinke, Todd Fangmeier and Drew Onnen offered public comment (Onnen commented specifically about gravelling minimum-maintenance roads). After public comment, Commissioner Marlin Bauhard moved and Commissioner Rich Koch seconded a motion to close the public hearing at 1:53 p.m.; the motion carried with Bauhard, Koch and Krueger voting yes.
The board will discuss the recommendations and the proposed amendments at a later meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5. The Feb. 5 minutes do not record any board decisions on the substance of Article 10 or other portions of the proposed regulations; the hearing record will be considered at the March 5 meeting.
