McPherson County to consider January rent payment for Austin Hoffman’s city office at next meeting

Jeff Neuhart, acting as meeting chair, said the treasurer of the Economic Development Corporation (ECDC) asked whether the county was sending payment for Austin’s office while the county took control of the city building on Jan. 1. Neuhart said county staff believed there was no rent obligation because the county moved into the city building on Jan. 1.
Austin Hoffman told the board he planned to move his equipment to the city office the next day and said he needed a hardwired internet connection for his computer. "I am planning on moving all my stuff tomorrow," Hoffman said. He explained he had met with vendor "Valley" to arrange outlets and wiring and said he could then move into the space.
Board members agreed to put the January rent question on the agenda for the next meeting so the board can formally consider a payment. No vote was taken during the call on rent or a lease; the board treated the item as a scheduling and administrative matter to be addressed later.
