What the board approved

- Board appointments: Randy Burtt was reappointed to the Development Authority (term through 03/01/2029), and Patricia (Pat) Puller was appointed to the Clayton County Water Authority (5-year term through 02/28/2030). Motions carried by voice vote.
- Resolution 2025-43 (Capital Improvements Element transmittal): The board authorized transmission of the draft Capital Improvements Element to the Atlanta Regional Commission for state and regional review, the step required to pursue an impact-fee program (covered in a separate article).
- Contract termination: The board voted to terminate the county's agreement with Morgan Constructors for work related to the Flint River Recreation Center and authorized the chairwoman to take actions necessary to effectuate the termination; the board noted that termination would affect that contract and could limit the contractor's ability to bid on future county work.
What the board rejected
- Resolution 2025-38: The motion to transmit a local act to the state legislature to increase the homestead exemption from $10,000 to $15,000 failed after staff presented revenue-impact estimates and the fire chief warned service cuts or a millage increase might be required to make up lost revenue.
