Planning board forwards annexation and rezoning to Panama City for three Airport Drive parcels

The Panama City Planning Board voted 4-0 on March 10 to approve annexation and a request to designate three Airport Drive parcels under a general commercial future land use and GC zoning. The application, case CPCPLN2025272, covers parcels at 3712 and 3716 Airport Drive and an associated parcel totaling just over 2 acres.
Applicant Caitlin Campbell, representing prospective buyer Mrs. Macias, said the property is under contract from owner Mr. Knox and that the purpose of annexation is to secure access to Panama City services including water, sewer and waste collection. “Purpose of this application is to request annexation to Panama City from Bay County. Mrs. Macias is hoping to have future access to Panama City services,” Campbell said.
Staff presented the application and noted the item will proceed to city commission for first reading if the board’s recommendation is accepted. No members of the public spoke against the annexation.
A motion to approve the annexation and associated rezoning to general commercial passed on a roll call: Carroll — yes; Barker — yes; Rich — yes; Chairman Neubauer — yes. The board recorded the vote as 4-0 in favor.
The annexation and zoning request will advance to the City Commission for first reading and final action. The applicant and owner indicated the parcels are currently commercially zoned in Bay County; annexation would transfer regulatory jurisdiction to Panama City and make city utilities available to the parcels.
