Auburn awards three-year school bus contract to AA Transportation with 8% first-year increase

The Auburn School Committee voted Feb. 26 to award the FY25–FY28 student transportation contract to AA Transportation, the district’s incumbent provider, after only one vendor submitted a formal bid.
Business Manager Miss Stanek presented the bid results and said several vendors requested bid specifications but only AA Transportation returned a bid. She said she negotiated the prices and that the contract includes an 8% increase in year one, a 7.07% increase in year two, and a 5.93% increase in year three, with the option to extend for two additional one-year periods.
Miss Stanek asked the committee for approval to return to AA Transportation and award the contract. A school committee member moved to approve the contract and a second followed; the motion passed.
Miss Stanek and multiple committee members thanked Ron, AA Transportation’s owner, and praised the vendor’s responsiveness. The contract’s single-bid outcome and negotiated increases were described as the product of heavy work preparing the bid specifications and conducting follow-up negotiations.
Ending: The contract award was approved by the committee at the Feb. 26 meeting. Committee members noted the district will revisit the option-year extensions at the appropriate time if they choose to exercise them.
