The committee presented two feasible options: a calendar similar to the current year, and a calendar that keeps the 4‑day week but schedules school on three Fridays that follow federal holidays (Labor Day, Presidents Day and Memorial Day). The committee recommended the three‑Friday option because it would shorten the calendar by about one week (students would finish the Friday after Memorial Day) and avoid extending the school year into July while preserving professional collaboration Fridays.
Board reaction and next steps: Board members asked the committee to return with any clarified calendars and asked staff to check dates and formatting. A suggestion to survey families on specific alternate options was discussed; board members asked the committee to present updated options at the next meeting so the board might vote after reviewing community input and budget implications.
