The Conservation Commission on Feb. 13 agreed to proceed with ordering a preassembled redeemable-shed for the transfer station and discussed logistics for the swap shop and redeemable collections.
Commission staff reported a vendor quote of about $5,200 from Backyard Fun (Route 7) for a fully assembled shed that fits town size limits previously approved by Tiger (town operations). The shed will be delivered assembled (no on-site build), and staff said Tiger’s crew would move book bins to accommodate delivery. Commissioners said they would text Tiger with the dimensions and quote and proceed once Tiger confirms operational details.
The commission discussed a phased public rollout to educate residents about what the shed will accept—single-serving bottles and cans only; no glass. Recyclers will collect contents, and the town will coordinate the frequency of pickup with the redemption center. Commissioners also discussed keeping the swap shop open during bad weather and suggested the pickup vendor could clean redeemable totes as part of operations.
No formal vote was recorded to expend funds; commissioners indicated staff may place the order once Tiger confirms operational clearance.
