The New Canaan Utilities Commission welcomed two newly sworn commissioners — Pablo Levin and Danica Landis — at its Feb. 27 special meeting, unanimously approved minutes from the Dec. 17 meeting and elected Pablo Levin as the commission’s new secretary.
Pablo Levin introduced himself, saying he moved to New Canaan in 2013, has a background in software engineering and was interested in contributing technical skills to the commission. Danica Landis said she grew up in New Canaan, returned in 2018 and works as a product designer; both commissioners said they were pleased to join the panel.
The commission then took routine organizational actions. A motion to approve the minutes of the Dec. 17 meeting was moved and seconded and adopted by voice vote. The chair opened nominations for secretary; after a nomination to elect Pablo Levin and a second, nominations were closed and commissioners voted by voice. The motion to elect Pablo Levin passed unanimously.
Other organizational discussion during the meeting covered committee roles and the commission’s volunteer-led project structure; commissioners discussed communications, project leads for water, energy and two-way communications, and the possibility of working groups for vendor outreach and resident education.
Ending: The commission adjourned by unanimous voice vote at the end of the meeting. Commissioners were asked to identify projects they would like to lead or support as the commission enters its second year of activity.
