At the March 10 meeting Commissioner Joiner updated the Wendell Town Board of Commissioners on recent Wendell Volunteer Fire Department activity, including Wake County budget developments and equipment inspections.
Joiner said the fire commission has received the county's proposed budget and will forward it to the Wake County Board of Commissioners; that proposed budget includes a 1.5¢ fire tax increase, Joiner said. He also reported that a new ladder truck underwent inspection in Florida and that arrangements were being made for a second inspection. Joiner said another new fire truck is on the way.
Joiner described a live-burn training held recently on Eagle Rock Road that involved four Wendell firefighters and about a dozen recruits from the Wake County Fire Academy, along with multiple local departments. He characterized the exercise as a good training opportunity for personnel who will serve in the community.
The board took no formal action on the update; the report was delivered during the "board committee members" portion of the agenda.
