Committee adds sheriff’s auto body project to agenda; EOC reports only one eligible vendor identified

The MWBE Goal Setting Committee added the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department auto body project to the meeting agenda on Feb. 25, 2025 and heard an update from the county’s Equal Opportunity Compliance (EOC) office that the project remains without an MWBE participation goal.
Administrator James Gloucester moved to add the sheriff’s auto body (auto parts/auto body) project to the agenda and Doctor Hall seconded the motion; the chair noted no objection and the item was added as Project 5A.
Glenda Pearson, Diversity Supplier Officer in the EOC office, told the committee that additional research identified only one eligible vendor for the work. She said that short vendor pool meant the EOC recommendation did not change the prior finding of no MWBE goal, explaining “that does not change the no goal because obviously we have to have 3 MWBEs to establish a goal.”
The chair closed discussion after the update and the committee recorded the item as added to the agenda for future consideration when more vendor options exist.
