Fife City Council conducts candidate interviews, votes to delay appointment until next Tuesday

The Fife City Council spent its meeting time interviewing applicants for the vacancy in Council Position 1, held an executive session under state law to review candidates’ qualifications and, at the end of the meeting, voted to reschedule the appointment to next Tuesday to give two candidates who did not appear in person a chance to present.

Council members questioned and heard from several candidates — some in person and two by written submission read into the record — about their backgrounds, community involvement and priorities if appointed. Applicants who spoke during the meeting included Michael Sisson, Nick Burge, Fatuma Bulale, and others; Tali Suiloa and Mandy Gibson submitted written answers because they were unable to attend in person. The council then met in executive session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(h) to evaluate qualifications for appointment.
