Board members expressed general support for the scout project but asked for specifics before installation. One board member asked that the scout come to the next meeting or provide a photo of the proposed placement. Several members recommended the scout use a premanufactured, durable bench that matches the park’s existing standards to minimize maintenance and vandalism. Board members noted that bench purchases the city previously discussed had been quoted in the $3,000–$3,500 range and that concrete pads or slabs for mounting benches add to the total cost.
Members discussed sight lines and placement so users would not have people walking directly behind the seated person, and asked staff to confirm whether the scout’s design will include the required concrete slab. No formal vote was recorded; the board said it would support the project provided the placement, materials and site preparation meet city requirements and the scout presents final plans or photos at a future meeting.
