Planning commission approves minutes amendment, re-elects chair and vice chair

The Charleston County Planning Commission approved a requested amendment to the minutes of a previous meeting and elected its chair and vice chair in roll-call votes.
A commissioner moved to amend the workshop minutes from the Feb. 10, 2025, meeting to add a clarification to a comment on density. The requested insertion would add to the second line of the first paragraph on page 12 of the packet: “there is a distinction between good density and bad density, where bad density is 100% car centric, creating a negative public opinion of all density due to increased traffic.” The mover cited the YouTube recording (about 1:27:30) as reference. The commission approved the amendment by roll call; the clerk recorded the ayes and the amendment was accepted.
Later in the meeting, a commissioner nominated Cindy Floyd to serve as chair and Pete Pilatos to serve as vice chair for the coming year. The nomination was seconded, and the commission approved the slate by roll call. Commissioners who voted aye in the roll-call included Logan Davis, Gary Lesane, Cindy Floyd, Warwick Jones, David Kent, Adam McConnell, Luke Morris, Pete Pilatos and Susan Cox. The commission’s rules specify the newly elected officers begin their terms upon completion of the meeting in which they are elected.
Chair Floyd closed the meeting by announcing a community meeting to discuss the draft 10-mile community overlay district at the 10 Mile Community Center on Saturday, March 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The commission adjourned and scheduled its next regular meeting for Monday, April 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. in Council Chambers.
