DC Prep board authorizes Anacostia elementary campus relocation to Wilkinson Building

DC Prep PCS trustees voted to authorize the relocation of the Anacostia Elementary campus from its current B Street site to the Wilkinson Building, where it will join Anacostia Middle, for the coming school year.
Emily, a DC Prep staff member providing a facilities update, told the board construction of the Wilkinson Building site is on schedule and within budget. “The building will be done in August, and students will be in there for August, beginning of September,” Emily said. The board then voted to authorize DC Prep to move the elementary program to the Wilkinson site; the motion carried on a board vote recorded in the transcript.
Staff told trustees the Public Charter School Board (PCSB) will also take a vote on the change of location, but PCSB requested a prior vote from the DC Prep board. Emily said the finance and real estate committee is continuing to study a potential option across the street (the building Washington Latin currently occupies) but that the committee is still “pressure testing whether that is a realistic and feasible option for both the program and the finances related to this campus.”
Ending: Trustees approved the relocation and asked staff to return with the results of further facilities analysis and any finance-related updates; students are expected to occupy the Wilkinson Building at the start of the upcoming school year.
