Mayor announces resignation from Public Facility District seat to allow transparent appointment process

Mayor Jeralee Crawford told the East Wenatchee City Council on March 4 that she will resign her seat on the Public Facility District board effective April 14, 2025, to allow the council to use an updated, transparent appointment process.
"To honor the council's desire to exercise this updated process, I have decided to resign from my position on the PFD board effective Monday, 04/14/2025," Crawford read in a letter she provided to council members. She said her resignation should not be read as an unwillingness to serve; she said she plans to apply for appointment under the new selection procedure so the council can evaluate candidates through a public process.
Crawford said the February 20 workshop established an evaluation that will be fair, transparent and informative and that her resignation opens the seat for appointment according to that process. She asked the council to proceed with the selection as discussed so the citizens’ interests are represented on the PFD board.
The council did not take further action at the March 4 meeting; council members will receive the vacancy and follow the appointment steps the council previously discussed at a workshop.
