Ice Arena Authority recommends City of Norwich adopt new lease for North Rose Garden Ice Arena LLC

The Ice Arena Authority of Norwich voted unanimously at a special meeting to recommend that the City of Norwich adopt a new lease for North Rose Garden Ice Arena LLC, with a proposed start date of July 1, 2024.

The action came at a brief, recorded meeting in which three of the authority's four commissioners were present. The presiding member moved to recommend adoption of the lease and Commissioner Evan Red seconded the motion. A roll-call vote recorded “yes” from Commissioner Joanne, Commissioner Mark Cucuzzo and the presiding member; the motion passed.

The recommendation asks the City of Norwich to adopt the authority's new lease for the ice arena. Commissioners discussed inserting a start date into the document; the authority settled on 07/01/2024 as the lease start. No further debate or amendments were recorded.

During closing remarks, Commissioner Evan Red thanked Lisa, who worked with the authority on revisions to the draft lease: "I'd like to say congratulations to Lisa, and thank you so much for doing all of these changes and going through the process with us," he said. Commissioners expressed relief that the process was complete and the meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m.

The authority's action was limited to recommending the city adopt the lease; final approval by the City of Norwich was not recorded in this meeting.
