Final survey: Terry Heights phase two lacks integrity for National Register listing, consultant says

At the Huntsville Historic Preservation Commission’s February 2025 meeting, historian Dr. Caroline Swope presented the final reconnaissance survey for the second phase of the Terry Heights neighborhood and said the area, as surveyed, does not meet National Register criteria for listing.
Swope told the commission the phase‑two survey covered a large and varied area and that the work focused on “integrity, not condition.” She said the area contains many minimal‑traditional, transitional and ranch‑style houses and that several pockets of vacant lots, later development and remodeled properties interrupt the neighborhood’s historical continuity.
