The city presented a resolution to apply for a $15,600 grant to fund travel, lodging and location fees for newly certified trainers who will teach standardized field sobriety testing and related courses.
Bo Evans, traffic safety director, said nine additional trainers recently became certified and “this funding will allow for, their travel, the lodging and also, their any, location fees that they they may inquire or incur when, they go up there.” Evans said the trainings will take place at the West Virginia State Police training center in Dunbar and that the grant funding is reimbursable with no local match required.
The resolution was identified in the meeting as 2025-R-17. The transcript records presentation of the funding request but does not show a recorded council vote.
Staff said the funds are to reimburse the city for expenses associated with training instructors; no other program details or a grant award decision were recorded in the excerpt.
