House adopts committee reports en masse, sets adjournment for March 13

The House adopted committee reports en masse and voted to adjourn until March 13, 2025, at 11 a.m., the chamber announced during a brief session.

The action advances a group of Senate bills and concurrent resolutions reported out of committee and clears the way for scheduled committee hearings on several issues including health care, utilities and energy, education, courts and criminal code matters, elections and apportionment, tax and budgetary proposals, and family and child services. Roll call recorded 92 members present; Representatives Green, Moed and Porter were excused.

House leadership recognized David A. Groves, national president of the nonprofit Blacks in Government, who the chair noted was celebrating the organization’s 50th anniversary.

“The motion is adopted,” the presiding officer said after members voted on both the committee reports and the adjournment motion. Representative Layman moved to adjourn until March 13 at 11 a.m.; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
