Jay McLeod of Inspire Placemaking Collective introduced the firm’s team and described the schedule and statutory components of a Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) land‑use plan update the town contracted the firm to prepare.
McLeod said the project will combine the town’s comprehensive‑plan update with required CAMA elements so the resulting plan will meet state standards for CAMA permit review. He outlined a public‑engagement schedule that includes staff and public workshops, a community input period, and a Coastal Resources Commission review step that can take up to 75 days.
McLeod described the consultant team (planners, architects and economic‑development specialists) and said the update will cover required CAMA topics plus a local “what do we care about” section to capture community priorities beyond the statutory elements. He encouraged residents to use a project website posted on the town’s web page and to attend the workshop later in the day.
Board members heard the timeline and asked about community touch points; McLeod said the team expects to complete the plan in the fall and will submit the draft for state review after local adoption steps are complete. The presentation was informational; the board provided no substantive changes to the scope at the meeting.
