Kirk, the county transit official, said the procurement process has been lengthy and that “this is actually between us and Route Match software for a 5 year contract.” He told the board the state has set aside “just under $58,000” in CARES Act money for startup costs and described the county’s recurring share as “10% for these.”
Kirk said the implementation team is scheduled and that missing the current deadline could “push implementation back for another several months.” He asked commissioners their preference for how to present the contract on the agenda — whether to ratify his signature or require the chair’s signature — because the contract’s five‑year term and timing make prompt execution important.
Kirk said the contract covers multiple additions including online booking, automated calling for trip reminders and other features; most of the multi‑year cost will be reimbursed by state and federal funding, he said, while the county’s portion will be modest in percentage terms year over year. Staff indicated they will circulate the contract and a note with key numbers to commissioners ahead of the next meeting so questions can be raised before a vote.
No formal board action was taken Tuesday. Kirk said he will place the contract on the next meeting agenda and asked commissioners to review the documents when staff circulates them.
